I joined KCUK in October 2007 after my mother-in-law was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer.

As a kidney cancer patient myself, I am very pleased to hold the position of Patron of Kidney Cancer UK and I would like to welcome you to our website which I hope you will find informative, helpful and supportive.

In May 2005, I was delighted to be appointed as Kidney Cancer UK's first and only employee, in the role of Part-time Administrator and Secretary to the Board of Trustees.

I am a Professor of Medical Oncology at Cambridge where my clinical responsibilities include the management of kidney cancer, melanoma and lung cancer at Addenbrooke's and Papworth Hospitals. I was appointed Chairman of the NCRI Lung Clinical Studies Group in 2004 and am a Trustee of Kidney Cancer UK.

I became a member of Kidney Cancer UK in 2005 and was appointed as a Trustee in February 2007. Since that time I have been kept very busy with Kidney Cancer UK's campaigning activities.

I joined Kidney Cancer UK early in 2006, after my husband, Steven, was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer in December 2005.

I am a Kidney Cancer survivor having being diagnosed with RCC of the right kidney in February 2004.
