Our Campaigns

The following are the most important recent developments in the Kidney Cancer UK Campaign.

KCUK recently joined PIN, (Patients Involved in NICE). This is a network of patient/public organisations, including many of the cancer-related charities, with an interest in the work of NICE.

The initial appraisal of the drug Pazaponib, produced by GlaxoSmithKline and marketed under the name Votrient, took place on 12th November in Manchester.

We submitted a memorandum on the work of NICE (the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence) to the House of Commons Select Committee on Health (see below link).

Then we have been through the appraisal by NICE of four new drugs for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC).

At the same time, we submitted evidence to, and received a report from, the Richards Review on Improving Access to Medicines for NHS Patients.

More recently we have had the premiere of a documentary film, entitled Jane’s Journey.

Coupled with this we have received the results of a sample survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of Novartis Oncology into awareness of kidney cancer by members of the general public.

Also KCUK recently took part in a House of Lords Reception on improving outcomes for kidney cancer patients.
