good news

Hi all, just got my recent C.T. scan results, with no evidence of recurrence. It is now 4 years since diagnosis of kidney cancer, April 2006, so am eternally grateful for this extension to my life.
However I still get very nervous waiting for the results, and doubts creep in, I thought it might get easier as time went by but still it worries me. Good luck to anyone else waiting for scan results.
Penny Hill - you are an inspiration to all of us, 18 years and still fighting, it was great that you could get a lovely long break away.
Lots of love
Julie

More good news

Hello All,

I'm very mindful of all those on the forum who are going through their own battles at the moment but, in the hope of encouraging those newly disgnosed, I thought I would post the results of my annual check-up. It was four years ago on the 7th July that I had a radical nephrectomy to remove a 7cm tumour and my annual chest x-ray and ultrasound of the kidney bed and remaining kidney have just both come back clear. I am still awaiting results of the blood tests but am hopeful that they too will be all as they should be. Life has been good to me and I am truly thankful.

My love and best wishes to everyone and my hope is that you too will have good scans.

Love

Lynne

More good news

So pleased to hear your great news Lynne. I too had a clear scan to mark my four year anniversary. My tumour was 9cm and a grade 4. I still cant quite believe I have come this far and consider myself to be very very lucky, and as you say maybe we can give something positive to those who are newly diagnosed. Best wishes to all on the forum.

Lesley

results

Hi Lynne and Lesley, so good to hear that you are both doing well. Its hard to explain to other people that although we are in remission its still an anxious time when you await scan results, and it very much depends on the grade and stage of the kidney cancer as to the outcome long term, also the general health of the patient when diagnosed.
Steve, I hope that you too get good results, and am sending you lots of positive thoughts.
Best wishes,
Julie

Good News

I saw my Oncologist yesterday to get my results for the CT scan I had last Monday week.

'There are no signs of any new disease'

So I continue to not require any treatment and I will not need to go back for 4 months.
