Hi Simon, what are you referring to when you say chalk rubbish?
Are you referring to something that you are taking for the reflux, or the dye that they pump into you?
I had a new kidney friendly contrast dye called vivispaque, which suited me much better and had no side effects like I usually have. It is common to get hot sweats when kidney cancer is present,I had them and so did my friend Kay when it returned. I am getting them again now, but cant tell whether its my age, 50+ or something more sinister, as I had a scan in February and it showed all clear. I also get reflux, so may check with my consultant when I go next month.
Have they said how the shortness of breath is linked to this?

hi julie,
the chalk stuff i think is the contrast for the scan which i drink and then they pump other liquid into me, the sortness of breath thing it could be related to new shadows on my lungs,am seeing ben brady(onc) on tuesday i hope i get some answers to these and more questions tks for answering this

Hi
For my last 2 ct scans I didn't have to drink contrast just plain water, I still had dye injected for the scan but it was one which is safer for my existing kidney. I use to get sickness and upset stomach with the previous contrast drink and dye.

I also have experienced extreme breathing difficulties on sutent, lungs are clear and all tumours elsewhere are shrinking so they are not able to explain breathing problems. I've had heart tests and all is well? I have now had sutent reduced to 37.5mg after being on 50mg for a year to see if that helps.

Be interested to hear how you get on with your next appointment.

Jackie
